The difficulties and trials we go through can be used by God to minister to others, as a part of our call. God does not seek to disqualify anyone -- rather He is ready to qualify all of us as we rely on Him to bring us through our trials and out the other side to bless others. Our gifts and calling are not for ourselves, but for the benefit of others. (The laughter is about five members of the congregation putting on helmets at the beginning of the message in response to the previous week when Peet hit tennis balls and a plastic golf ball into the crowd!).

Discovering and playing the role God has made us well-suited for. What we're saved into is almost more important that what we are saved out of. (Don't worry, the "golf ball" Peet hit into the crowd was plastic!).

The apostle Paul's identity was clearly settled as he walked out his call in God. The way he saw himself spiritually affected directly how he lived out his call naturally. In this passage we see clearly that our identity will determine our behaviour as we seek to serve God and others.

Today as we look at the Armour of God, we must ask ourselves, "Am I ready to put on my feet the shoes of the gospel of peace?" The first principle I have to know is: do I have peace with God? Is He my Savior? The second principle concerns peace within ourselves: do I have inner peace to face life's problems? The third principle is peace with others, which allows us to help to pass on the good news. If I adopt these principles of the Gospel of Peace I can stand firm in the battle against the enemy of our souls.

This message is about "putting on the righteousness as a breastplate" as we become a Holy People. Jesus, our Messiah, is our Holiness, and without accepting Him into our lives, we cannot enjoy heaven on earth. Maturing into His truths and righteousness will enable our "Holy Family" to grow and bring others into the Kingdom of Jesus.

A continuation of our sermon series on the Armor of God: the Shield of Faith. Our faith can protect us from the flaming arrows of the devil. This message looks at what those flaming arrows are, but more importantly how the shield protects us. Lastly, we look at how we can have faith like a shield. Don't leave your shield at home! Take it up before you are in the midst of battle.

Paul instructs believers to put on the helmet of the hope of salvation, and in this way to fill our minds with the hope that salvation brings. We need to identify our spiritual enemy, call out to be delivered by God, and renew our minds with God's Word and promises. Christ in us is the hope of glory!
